The engine in the PQ\/Mk6 chassis vehicles transitioned to the Gen 3 EA888, but VW failed to install IHI style turbos in these variants, found in MQB Gen 3 EA888 cars (Mk7, 8V, etc). Instead, they transitioned to a different turbo from the Gen 1, but kept the same position of the turbo; the turbo exhaust is on the driver side and the intake is on the passenger side. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe majority of the models with the PQ\/Mk6 chassis have an automatic (non-DSG) transmission or the 5-speed transmission. Both of these were not built with performance in mind, which means they will not hold up to the power requirements of turbo upgrades. Turbo manufacturers rightfully didn't see value in designing a performance turbo for these models. This is where our VW enthusiasts came into action. The community over at PROJECTGEN3GLI on Facebook identified a list of items required to fit any OEM MQB style turbo.
