The housings are modeled after the OEM IS20\/IS38 turbochargers for proper fitment, but they are all brand new and original castings made and machined for the specific wheels we use. The turbine is a TD06SL2 wheel measuring at 61mm\/54mm and the compressor is a custom billet wheel measuring at 53mm\/71mm base with a 76mm extended tip design. The entire turbo is manufactured, assembled, and VSR balanced in a state of the art facility. The \u003cstrong\u003eEQT Vortex \u003c\/strong\u003eis good for \u003cstrong\u003e450-480whp\u003c\/strong\u003e on pump gas and over \u003cstrong\u003e500-560whp\u003c\/strong\u003e on race gas or E85. Note that upgraded fueling and supporting mods are recommended to take full advantage of this turbo.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eWhen developing this turbo upgrade, EQT was aiming for a good balance of response and overall power potential so that the turbo would be a pleasure to drive on the street as well as on track. As a result, the \u003cstrong\u003eEQT Vortex \u003c\/strong\u003eoffers excellent spool and response throughout the powerband along with a very flat torque curve that carries nearly to redline. EQT also sized this turbo to be a perfect match for the stock engine internals and control systems. The \u003cstrong\u003eEQT Vortex \u003c\/strong\u003emakes excellent power in the 27-28psi range which allows it to work very well on pump gas and stay within range of the stock MAP sensors. Check out the dyno chart below which shows the \u003cstrong\u003eEQT Vortex \u003c\/strong\u003eon \u003cspan style=\"color: #26943b;\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e91 Octane\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e and on an \u003cspan style=\"color: #125299;\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eE30 blend\u003c\/strong\u003e \u003c\/span\u003eas well as the same car on the \u003cspan style=\"color: #6d26ae;\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003estock IS38 turbo\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e. The setup on the car remained exactly the same aside from the turbo kit and tuning. This was done on the road in 4th gear (2015 Golf R DSG) on E30. You can see that the turbo hits 27psi right at 3000RPM and holds it to redline with ease. You can also see that the Intake Air Temperature barely moves through the entire pull. The key difference in the \u003cstrong\u003eVortex XL\u003c\/strong\u003e is a larger turbine housing. While the standard \u003cstrong\u003eEQT Vortex\u003c\/strong\u003e uses a turbine housing based on the IS20 turbo to achieve unrivaled spool, the \u003cstrong\u003eVortex XL\u003c\/strong\u003e uses a larger housing based on the IS38 to allow for more top end flow. The result is that the \u003cstrong\u003eVortex XL\u003c\/strong\u003e spools 300-400RPM slower, but offers an extra 20-40whp depending on fuel and setup. The XL can hit \u003cstrong\u003e30psi by 3400RPM\u003c\/strong\u003e and can hold up to \u003cstrong\u003e35psi\u003c\/strong\u003e all the way to redline!\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eWith the \u003cstrong\u003eVortex XL\u003c\/strong\u003e, we have now seen up to \u003cstrong\u003e600whp\u003c\/strong\u003e along with low-mid 10 second 1\/4 mile times. The \u003cstrong\u003eVortex XL\u003c\/strong\u003e turbo currently holds the 1\/4 mile record for any IHI based bolt-on turbo for the MQB platform, while still being one of the best spooling options on the market. The record pass was a \u003cstrong\u003e10.46 @ 131.5mph\u003c\/strong\u003e and was accomplished at only 30psi on EQT's stock motor and stock transmission shop car. This is clear on the second dragy slip below where you see the acceleration drop hard before the end of the 1\/4 mile run, and was done to not get kicked out of the track for being too fast without proper safety equipment. While it is not recommended to run this turbo on a stock motor, it can be done and run well with proper tuning limits to preserve the engine.
